Employment tribunal claims can be complex and stressful, which means it can be expensive especially if not handled properly.
There are often time limits to making or responding to these claims.
Our pricing depends on the complexity and nature of the case. Our pricing is likely to range from the following:
Simple case such as a negotiated settlement – between £2,500 and £10,000 plus VAT.
Medium complexity case such as an unfair dismissal based on discrimination – between £10,000 and £20,000 plus VAT.
High complexity case such as a constructive dismissal – between £20,000 and £50,000 plus VAT.
These are estimates based on the experience of the fee earner. Hourly rates are from £130 per hour to £409 per hour depending on the expertise of the case handler.
There are multiple reasons why a case might be more complex, here are some of the reasons:
If we are needed to attend a tribunal hearing then it is charged at £250 plus VAT per day.
Fees for specialist counsel range from £800 to £2,000 plus VAT. It may be higher than this depending on the experience of the counsel and the complexity of your case. Before agreeing fees with counsel we get your authority on the quote. These fees are outside our legal fees.
There are likely to be further costs including court fees to third parties. Our team make you aware of any other disbursements in advance should we be required to seek expert reports, witness statements etc. We collect fees from yourself and pay the third parties on your behalf.

Some of the above may not be required and fees are adjusted accordingly.
If you only want advice around an aspect of the case we can quote on an individual basis.
If the case proceeds to a full tribunal then it could take up to a year. The courts are under resourced and therefore can be difficult to get a date for your case to be heard.
If your case settles then it is likely to be within three and six months.
These timescales are dependent on how quickly we receive information and how quickly your ex-employer responds.
VAT is chargeable if it meets the following criteria, it must:
VAT is applicable at the standard rate, 20%, on our services should the criteria be met. If VAT is due on any disbursements we will inform you prior to agreeing the fee.
