Field of Expertise

I accept instructions in all areas of Family law, including Divorce, Financial Remedy, Injunction, Private Children and Public Child Care matters.

In recent years, I have dedicated my focus on Financial Remedy Proceedings and Serious Child Protection matters. My Childcare caseload has included Emergency applications, Care proceedings, Adoption and Inherent Jurisdiction cases.

In care proceedings, I represent vulnerable parents who present with mental health, learning difficulty, are victims/perpetrators of domestic abuse, are dependent upon alcohol or illicit substances, or have been accused of non-accidental injury, neglect, sexual abuse.

In private proceedings, I represent clients in contested child arrangement disputes, to include Lived with Orders, Spending Time Arrangements, Prohibited Steps Order and Specific Issue Order, often where there are allegations and counter allegations of domestic abuse.

In Financial Remedy cases, I have successfully represented clients on matters which are needs based, to cases where the assets are substantial and difficult to trace.

Notable Cases

Care Case:-

London Borough of Havering -v- H, C (2024/2025)

Represented mother in care proceeding, who signed s.20 agreement to place the children in foster care placement prior to the Local Authority issuing proceedings. Mother struggled with mental health and admitted she required time to engage with therapy, before the children can return to her care. We resisted complex fact-findings which included serious allegations, including child sexual abuse. Mother was released from the pool of perpetrators, and findings were made against the father of one child, who failed to attend the Fact-Finding/Final Hearings.

Father sought to appeal the findings, which was made in his absence. He advanced an argument that he was in fear of abuse from mother and her partner, which the mother refuted entirely having been a victim of serious domestic abuse at the hands of the father throughout their relationship.  The Court of Appeal dismissed the father’s appeal, on account that the correct course of action would have been to appeal to the trial Judge in the lower court, rather than the appellate Court. The Appeal Hearing was in open Court and live streamed for the Public interest.

London Borough of Newham -v- A, A, A (2023)

Represented a mother, where child was removed from the parents’ care by an Emergency Police Protection Order due to allegations of physical chastisement. We successfully opposed the Local Authority’s care plan for removal, and the parents were able to care for the child under a 12 months Supervision Order, with appropriate support in place.

London Borough of Redbridge -v- K, A, A (2024)

Represented a father, where children were removed from the parents due to the mother’s mental health, and allegations of domestic abuse from the father. We resisted the LA’s allegation that the father presented with narcissistic traits. The children were placed with father after lengthy proceedings, with support plan in place.

Private Law: K -v- S (2024)

Represented a mother in private proceedings, where father sought for the children to be placed in his care due to child protection concerns. We resisted father’s application, and represented mother in Pre-Care Proceeding meetings, which resulted in the Local Authority taking no further action. The private case was settled with the children remaining in mother’s care, and father having contact in alternating weekends.

Financial Remedy: P-v-P (2023)

Represented a wife who was in a 35-year marriage with 3 adult children. Husband failed to comply with full and frank disclosure within the financial proceedings. There was a dispute as to the portfolio of the properties in which Husband had an interest. It was wife’s case that there were 6 properties in question, 3 of which were owned by companies (incorporated in Panama), 2 joint properties in the UK, and 1 joint property abroad. The wife secured a Maintenance Pending Suit Order at the start of proceedings.  At the Final Hearing, the wife successfully gained a higher percentage in the co-owned assets, a periodical payment order, and lump sum order, together with a costs Order.
